from The Mourning After, released June 12, 2020
Like all men I sought a perfect life, to stitch as one the dead to attain the perfect wife
But the village found it odd that a man should play God
Condemned her to be damned, fools could never understand
And night found them by the fire
Men led by prayer yearned to conspire
Alive or dead could their mortal hands hurt her?
Into the night they planned her murder

Left alone unaware of creeping foes, I walked by the river to pluck the perfect rose
But on my return a chill ran down my spine, my black heart unprepared for what I was to find
And there she was on the floor
Colour drained from lips that I once adored
A dagger to her breast to stop her breathing
Those bastards cut her throat to stop her screaming

From the shadow back to light
To see the love back in your eyes
I'll hold you close tonight
I'd stitch your heart to mine (Don't you leave me here
If you'd just give me a sign don't you fade away, don't you breathe your last
That tonight you may rise I could make you stay)

I gotta make this right
Take her to the tower in the dead of night
A kiss from a lightening strike
Should be enough to bring her back to life
